Emily Wallis Hughes grew up in California. Her second book of poems, my friend Now, is forthcoming from Spuyten Duyvil in 2027; her first book was Sugar Factory (Spuyten Duyvil, 2019). Poems have been recently published in Always Crashing, The American Poetry Review, Conduit, Cordella Magazine, Edible Jersey, Luna Luna Magazine, and Trampoline: A Journal of Poetry. A lecturer in the Creative Writing Program in the English Department, she has taught at RutgersNew Brunswick since 2016. She and poet Jason Zuzga are the Editorial Co-Directors of Fence Magazine, Inc., and Fence magazine, which was awarded the Whiting Foundation Literary Magazine Prize in 2018. Emily lives in Astoria, Queens, New York.
Olivia Morrison is a writer and recent graduate of Rutgers University, where she earned her B.A. in Psychology with a minor in creative writing. Her work explores themes of illness, memory, and time, often drawing on her experience as a teenage cancer survivor. In 2023, she was nominated for the prestigious Glascock Poetry Prize. She is currently interning at Fence magazine and developing a documentary about cancer, grief, loss, and what it means to move on.
J. Charles Stephens is a third year student of Translation in Comparative Literature, Japanese, and Creative Writing at Rutgers University. An intern at Fence Books and founder of the Rutgers Poetry Circle, they enjoy collecting vintage neckties, taking naps, and translating the lyrics of Japanese electronic music.
