ARKADY MARTINE is the Hugo AwarIWH w. Arkady Martined-winning author of the best selling space opera A Memory Called Empire, which has been called "mesmerizing" (New York Times), "beautiful" (Library Journal, starred), "epic" (Kirkus, starred), "exquisite" (Los Angeles Times), "lavish" (Wall Street Journal), "stunning" (Publishers Weekly, starred), and "awesome" (Rick Riordan, Percy Jackson series). As Dr. AnnaLinden Weller, she is a historian of the Byzantine Empire and a city planner. She is currently a policy advisor for the New Mexico Energy, Minerals, and Natural Resources Department, where she works on climate change mitigation. Under both names, she writes about border p
olitics, rhetoric, propaganda, and the edges of the world. She lives in Santa Fe with her wife, the author Vivian Shaw
