Please join us THURS. NOV 12 at 4:30 PM for another installment of Rutgers University's Inside the Writers House, when Writers House instructor Alex Dawson talks with Appalachian author Leah Hampton about her hotly anticipated story collection, F*ckface, a brassy, bighearted debut about corpses, honeybee collapse, hope, meat, sex, and Dolly Parton in post-coal Appalachia. F*ckface has been called "a piercing debut" (PopMatters), "a gem of a collection" (Salon), "exquisite, poignant, engrossing... remarkable... diverse and complex... exceptional" (NY Journal of Books), "dazzling... marvelous" (Kirkus, starred), "penetrating... remarkable... thought-provoking" (Publishers Weekly), "gripping... complex... sweeping" (Booklist), and "outstanding" (Ron Rash, Serena). Her work has appeared in Ecotone, McSweeneys, Electric Literature, storySouth, LitHub, and elsewhere. She lives in the Blue Ridge Mountains near the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
"The humor and the hardship of those mountains are imprinted in the very bones of this collection. ―The Paris Review, staff picks
