Inside the Writers House Presents: Darin Strauss
Monday, September 21, 2020, 09:50am - 11:00pm

IWH w. Darin Strauss

Please join us Mon. Sept 21 at 9:50 AM for this semester's first virtual session of RU's Inside the Writers House, when Writers House instructor Alex Dawson talks with National Book Critics Circle Award winner Darin Strauss, author of The Queen of Tuesday, which begins with a daring conceit—the author’s grandfather may have had an affair with Lucille Ball. The Queen of Tuesday has been called "a striking exploration" (Washington Post), "ingenious and bittersweet" (Los Angeles Times), "part elegy, part mystery, part speculative memoir... a love story unlike any you’ve read before... a gift" (Karen Russell, Swamplandia), "a beautiful cinematic story" (Min Jin Lee, Pachinko), and "a home run!" (Gary Shteyngart, Lake Success). Darin is also the author of the bestselling novels Chang and Eng, The Real McCoy, and More Than It Hurts You; the memoir Half a Life, winner of the National Book Critics Circle Award; and a bestselling comic-book series, Olivia Twist (w. RU's own Adam Dalva). These have been New York Times Notable Books and Newsweek, Los Angeles Times, San Francisco Chronicle, Chicago Tribune, and NPR best books of the year, among other honors.

“Anything Darin Strauss writes is magic. I have been his fan since the beginning of time, and I will be his fan until the sun explodes.”—Elizabeth Gilbert, author of Big Magic
