In the summer of 2009, Writers House student Scott Lazes travelled to Copenhagen to film the World Outgames. Now, he and 3 other students in our Digital Storytelling class are making films about athletes, sports and sexual identity. Inspired by Mark Schuster's class on Sports and Sexuality, these students have come to Writers House to make documentaries and video essays dealing with this powerful subject.

Writers House students describe their participation in the making of Atlantic Crossing, a Rutgers documentary produced by Dena Seidel. This film follows the historic transatlantic mission of RU27, an autonomous underwater robot designed by scientists at Rutgers Institute of Marine and Coastal Sciences.

"The Doc on Doc", about the Documentary Filmmaking for Writers class, was made collaboratively by seven Writers House students (Amanda Bullis, Lizette Gesuden, Alex Prister, Jacob Rasor, Dave Rothstadt, Pilar Timpane and Francisco Veloz) . Designed and taught by Dena Seidel, a professional filmmaker with a background in broadcast television, this course focuses on short film story composition, the 3 Act structure, and film language.
Students also learn the basic skills necessary to use Writers House video cameras and Final Cut software.
