Creative Writing Courses
Creative writing courses provide a workshop-like environment for students to work closely with practicing novelists, playwrights, poets, travel writers, writers of creative non-fiction, etc. Individual courses may investigate aesthetic theory, contemporary social issues, balancing research and creativity, and use of multimedia for composition of creative pieces. Documentary and Filmmaking Courses
At Writers House, our Digital Storytelling course is designed to provide students with the technical skill to add images, graphics, music and sounds meaningfully to their stories, poems and essays. While in our Documentary Filmmaking courses, students learn to tell real life narratives in a moving, visual medium. Recorded materials (images, sounds and dialogue) from the real world become the 'words' our documentarians use to build their stories. Students are also trained in the basic of Final Cut Pro editing software.

First Year Seminars
First-year seminars are undergraduate, discussion-driven courses, which focus on individual subjects specific to the instructor’s research area. The seminars are one-credit courses that meet once per week for ten weeks, or back to back sessions for five weeks of the term, and are graded pass/no credit. Writers House is offering the following First Year seminars:
